HELLO AND WELCOME TO MY BLOG!

My name is Anna, and I like to call myself an aspiring scientist. I am interested in all things science, but bioinformatics is the closest to my heart. On this blog, I talk about career in science, share some student tips and discuss all the aspects of expat life. While my main motto is “for Europeans, from European” due to strong emphasis on the European life and market, I certainly do not restrict myself to those topics and I hope that everyone, no matter where you are from, will find something interesting here!

Many of the blogposts that you can find here are written by me, but I am also very happy to have guest posts. If you have an idea that you’d like to share with my audience, make sure to let me know.

MY STORY

Hey there! I’ve got a little story to share, and it all started when I was just a little girl with dreams of becoming a vet. Yep, you guessed it, I never really wanted to be a scientist. Animals were my jam, and I couldn’t imagine a future without them. But then, about a decade ago, when I was 15, something extraordinary happened. By pure accident, I stumbled upon an online course, that ended up completely changing my life. It fascinated me with biochemistry so much, that I almost immediately kissed my childhood dream goodbye. I took a sharp turn and started looking for an answer to the question “How to become a scientist?”. Since then, I completed two bachelor’s degrees, participated innumerous workshops, courses and internships, and even moved to Belgium in pursue of my master’s degree. Most of my story is yet to be written, but I figured that it would be nice to document the early stages of the scientific career, so that the other little Anna’s will have a point of reference.
