Too Good To Go is an app where you can purchase food at discounted prices. It allows the stores to sell the products that would otherwise be thrown away. The app can be downloaded from App Store and Google Play. When should I report a Too Good To Go bag and ask for a refund?

 

There are numerous instances when you should report a bag. The most common ones are the following:

  • The value of items in your bag is below the promised by the store value. This value is triple the amount you paid.
  • Products are inedible e.g. moldy.
  • You got items other than promised. To give you an example, I once reported a store that gave me… expired dog food(!), when I was supposed to get human food. 🐶
  • You didn’t receive any bag. This can happen because the store didn’t have any surplus food or it was closed when you arrived. 

When I should not report a Too Good To Go bag?

 

Sometimes, while you might be unhappy with your bag, it doesn’t mean that you should report it, such instances include:

  • The value of the bag is exactly what the store promised. Let me explain why some people could have an issue with this. Many stores give way more food than they promise, which can make the customers a bit spoiled and report the store once it gives exactly as much as it promises in the app. 
  • You don’t find the food tasty. This can happen, but when buying a bag, you have to accept that what you will get will be random and may not please your taste buds. 
  • Food contains meat. This mostly applies to my dear vegans and vegetarians. The only time you can ask for a refund from Too Good To Go in such cases is when it is clearly stated that the bag doesn’t contain meat.

How to know if the value of a bag is below the promised?

 

You can check the actual value of your bag in a couple of ways:

  • Some stores provide a receipt, which clearly states the value of the items. Keep in mind, that many products you will get were taken from the discount section, but the value that the stores usually count is the original value of a product. 
  • While you are at the store, check the prices of the items that you got, especially if you only got a few. 
  • Check their website. If you got your bag from a supermarket or a chain store, chances are high that prices of all their items can be easily found online. 

How to Report a Too Good To Go bag in 8 easy steps?

 

Step 1: Open the Too Good To Go app

Step 2: Go to Me > Your orders

Step 3: Click on the order you want to report 

Step 4: Click on the “Need help?” button at the bottom of the page

Step 5: Choose and click on an appropriate reason for reporting the bag e.g. bad experience or safety concern

Step 6: Click on “Contact us” button

Step 7: Fill in the contact page by choosing a topic, adding photos and an additional message.

Step 8: Click on the “Send” button

  • choose an appropriate topic,
  • add photos showing the spoiled/wrong item or the closed store,
  • write a message clearly stating why you are reporting the store and what you want as compensation (e.g. refund).

After completing the form, click on the “Send” button the message. You will then receive an automatic email informing you that your case is under investigation.

Their customer service almost always gets back to me within 24 hours. So far, all my reports granted me a refund either directly to my account or as a coupon that I could use in the app.
